Ford wheels?

I read somewhere that ford wheels would fit my truck as long as they were, I think pre-99. I found some cheap steel wheels from a 93 ford on cl. Painted them up real nice to put to put my summer tires on. Checked a wheel last night and was dissappointed the lug spacing good, but the center hub size a bit small. It I took off a 1mil all the way around I think it would fit. Do I put them back on CL or make them work? They look real pretty right now, and sure would like to make them work. It would be a lot of dremeling to take a mil off of 4 wheels. Is there another tool that would make this a little easier. I think a machine shop would make my good deal, not sure a good deal. Any ideas?

LOL, It is more than a mil to be removed. I have access to a machine shop so I would just chuck it up in a lathe, but since you don't, unless you can find a buddy to do it reasonable, your options are limited. Most here will not like this, but they are lug centric, so the center hole simply needs to be big enough to pass over. If I were in your shoes, I would use a 4" grinder to run around the center until they fit and be happy.

I want to say you have almost 40 thousandths to take off, someone can verify.

My kid has a 1997 Ford and his steel wheels have a different offset than my 2001 Dodge steel wheels. His offset is more so using those wheels on a Dodge would put more stress on the wheel bearings.

Offset is critical- make sure it will work for you. I tried a set off a Ford Van several years ago- the offset was wrong and when bolted on clamped the caliper against the rim and essentially locked it in place. If the offset is too far in either direction you can have issues so check it before you go through the work of grinding.
