Ford is at it again.........
This from today's edition of Autotech Daily:<br><br>"............A Harley-Davidson version will be available this fall but will be built on the super-duty F-250 platform instead of the F-150 as it is now. It also will feature Ford's new 6.0-liter<br>turbocharged Power Stroke V-8.........."<br><br><br>It should be a real screamer..... :<br>

How do you build a "Super"-Duty truck with a "Light"-Duty Engine? ???
I think they'd have better reliability puttin' 4 Harley motors together to build a V-8.

Wait to you see the confusing line-up of 150's. They are going to offer something called a Ranch King, and Heritage, but are continuing the existing body style along with the re-designed body..... ???...I'm confused already.

Do they even put any suspension in the "super duty's?" Everytime I see one with some sort of trailer on it, the bed is so sagged down and almost rubbing on the rear wheels... <br><br><br>Tony

I still maintain that Ford builds a better truck....Dodge just has a better engine. All of you naysayers can badmouth Ford all you want to....but if Ford AND Dodge both offered the Cummins....Dodge would lose a LOT of customers...including me. <br><br>As far as this Harley thing....well, if it will sell a truck I can't really blame Ford for doing it. After all...they're in business to make money. [undecided]

FIRST off, I guess you'd need to define what you consider "better" - what exactly is it in your eyes that makes a Ford "better"? Better paint? Better sheetmetal? Better engine/drivetrain? What?
For every long-lived Ford you can show me, I can show you a Dodge that did the same - for every rusted out Dodge, I can show you a Ford - for every busted Dodge, I can show you a Ford - for every ford that lasted forever, there's a Dodge that did the same - for every Ford used in heavy, overloaded daily service there's a corresponding Dodge. etc., etc...
It basically comes down to personal preference or predjudice - and *I* have been a Ford fan FAR longer than a DC fan - but at THIS point, if a Dodge and a Ford stood side-by-side, both equipped with the same Cummins I would have absolutely NO preference, and as likely to STILL choose the Dodge wrapper over the Ford sheetmetal, I think they BOTH have very comparable packaging other than the engines...
As for ridiculing those choosing the Ford/Harley stuff, those who do so are not really all that different from any other buyer spending money and using their stuff for their own personal satisfaction - we ALL do that!
What looks funnier, a middle-aged professional-type on a Harley, or a similar type drag-racing a 3 1/2-ton diesel for the kick HE gets out of his preferred activity? Does MY flamed '02 look funny with me, a 66 year old driving it? Am I "living in the past"? Probably - am I enjoying it? DERN RIGHT! And if that amuses or annoys some, it's THEIR problem, not MINE! ;D ;D ;D
Before ya laugh at what OTHER folks look like "doing their thing", maybe ya oughta look in the mirror, and see how YOU look doing yours!

The previous Harley was very sharp. I liked the 350 interior and it was a very solid truck. It rode like a truck compared to my Dodge, but the bodies are tough and the bucket seats and leather were nicer than mine. Once you get into the big mechanics like engine, Cummins rules. Lot's of little problems with the Fords that my friends have - - always in fixing something. One has "cackle". One replaced engine due to cavitation - - used wrong antifreeze after a radiator/water pump problem. Another had a heart attack when he had to replace injectors. Hey, we might also with the new common rail - - anyone know what injectors will cost in these things?<br><br>Hate to admit Hoss is right, but Ford makes a good truck - - until you open the hood. Like the looks of the Dodge exterior a lot better and the ride and the drive and the . . .

Re:Ford is at it again.........
I personally like the wraper of the dodge better. Better looks better inside and out. There are a few things that are cheap in both trucks. My 94 dodge has the stock seats and they hardely show any whear. I'm in and out of that truck amny times when loading hay and tractors. The only thing I don't like on my truck is the AC vents. the little thing inside that directs the flow of air. Thise things are not the best but thats a small thing that I can live with. Heck most of the time I never use the air. My first truck was a 78 dodge so I kinda got used to not using AC.<br>DM01

Re:Ford is at it again.........
Wow - ok here I go... <br><br>Here's where I come from - FORD is NOT a better truck... Hands down. My parents bought a brand new 2000 4x4 - 4 door powerstroke. They had put 3800 miles on it, with my almost dying grandfather in the truck - it suddenly stops in traffic. IN the middle of the interstate. Not only did FORD Treat my mother like she was an idiot (as they somehow towed the truck to the dealer and it magicly started to run again) but charged her for the towing, saying they could find nothing wrong with the truck. STRIKE #1 - 3 - The day after, mother went to start the "Ford that didn't have any problems" at the dealer, and again it wouldn't start. IPR valve was bad on it. Duah! THe 5 miles of traffic wasnt an indication that something was wrong! They wasted my mothers time, and that truck could have killed my grandfather. <br><br>With this 2000 Ford truck vrs my 1998.5 Dodge with equal miles on both. I guarentee that I am able to out pull dear daddy's truck, with better fuel economy, and at a better rate of speed. <br><br>The only thing that FORD has on my dodge is that at the time (2000) (as I recall Chevy was coming out of the strike) was cheepest thing on the market. What does that say? <br><br>Dear Daddy has had nothing but problems with the transmission, Breaks suddenly locking up for no reason... 4x4 deciding to disengage while pulling a nasty hill etc... <br><br>Ford produced so many trucks at once that they cut as many corners as possible. Sold them as cheeply as they could. <br><br>What I might point out, come to Vegas, look in the paper, you see nothing but ford trucks forsale... EXTREAMLY hard to find a 3/4 ton Dodge or Chevy... Why is that? Cause they are so freeken well made, that people hang on to them... Took me months to find my Dodge, before that 3 months to find my 3/4 ton Chevy!<br><br>That's my 2 cents. Thank you very much, please drive forward...

You can get a Cummins in a Ford but not til you get into the bigger trucks. Ever wonder why? :P

Re:Ford is at it again.........
I won't comment on the better truck thing but I will say the leaf sprung manual locking hub front end in my buddies 99 1 ton super duty seems a lot tougher than my front end <br><br>ather than that his truck is crap IMO ...........I love my dodger no matter how much it keeps costing me ( I get to rebuild my nv4500 next week )
