Fold out camper mirrors

OK gang,

Wanting to install the newer style of mirror. I have power/heat.

Can anyone tell me why the power/heated fold out won't fit? Is it the wire connection?

PLEASE ADVISE. Any thing will help.

thx, Z

Factory power/heat flip out mirrors are 3rd gen only. You can take a set of power/head 3rd gen and mount them on a 2nd gen flip out base, and wire them to work. Or you can buy the Kool-Vue mirrors for the 2nd gen. Look just like OEM, flip out, and have power and heat.

Looks like they are around $250. Do they mount to the stock brackets?

I just visited the Kool Vue website. What year are they for? I'm getting a 1997 and like the look and function of those flip up towing mirrors.

They are special to the 2nd genns from 98 1/2 on up to 02. They will plug right into the exiisting switch connectors if your truck came with power heated Mickey Mouse mirrors or is an SLT Laramie with non power foldouts. The connection and wiring is there but you need to get the joystick and heat button for these. In the 97 you'll need to hook up some sort of switch to operate the heat feature.

They are Kool-vue Model # DG49EL and DG49ER. Expect to pay around $300 for the pair and you'lll need the backer plates which are a dealer item. If you don't get the backer plates they will not mount right and shake like crazy. Luck

I like those mirrors, I now use those ones that slid over the stock mirrors, and they shack a lot, not very useful while driving, how far do these mirrors stick out, will I hit women and children on the sidewalk, and ref. the backing plate, is that what you ask for from the dealer...thanks
