foglifht bulb 9006 to 9005 upgrade?

I know you have to grind the little tabs off the 9005 bulb when upgrading, but I thought there was info regarding an additional O ring. I just cant find the info. Does anyone know what O ring I need or how you account for the smaller diameter of the 9005 bulb body?

I ended up getting the fogzilla harness from a buddy of mine that sold his truck, so it was plug/play for the bulb(except for trimming the small tab on the 3 tab side of the bulb) As for the Oring, the harness also came with two larger O-rings, but people on here have posted that they just used both o-rings on the 9005 bulb, I think they just used the old one off their stock bulbs and slid it down under the one on the bulb already.

I installed mine this past weekend and love them

EDIT
Heres a thread with the info on the O-ring too...

I did this mod for a buddy on his truck. He couldn't find the O rings stated in the thread linked, so I had to modify.

Take the O ring off the 9006 you pull out and slide it all the way to the seat on the base of the 9005. Works like a charm. No need try to find O rings.

Yep, just use the o-ring off of the 9006. One of the best/cheap mod's that I have done.

So I have been playing around with this a little bit. Found this link

http://www.innovativewiring.com/Part...tPartsPage.htm

You can get new male and female plugs for the 9005 and 9006 (and others). I think I am going to make my own little jumper harness to convert from the 9005 to a 9006. I thought about cutting the 9006 plug off, but determined I wouldnt just in case I sell it. I may also look into making my own brite box as well.

anyway, It appears that you have to massage the 9005 plug to fit aside from just the O ring? The top tab is oriented wrong. Are you guys just cutting it off? does the bulb hold well with just two tabs?

EDIT:

so I just re read the linked article above. It appears that I would essentially be making the fogzilla kit. Not sure its worth the time but Im gonna do it anyway.

also found you need to cut the tab

Yep, you do have to get rid of the tabs on the bulb plug.

Don't make your own brite box - you fry the ECM. All lights on your year of truck are computer controlled. You can get the fog lights to come on with high beams, but it has to be programmed to do so with a DRBIII - jumping wires won't fly.

I haven't seen anyone figure it out yet with relays as the ECM does a "dim out" thing when the lights are left on for a period after the key is off - so, I see an issue with no load resistance just by triggering relays. I'm working on it, but I'm not even close.
