Fog lights - blinding other drivers?
I used my fog lights for the first time this weekend and they worked great. I was on a two-way highway and did not notice anyone indicating that I blinded them, and I also got out of the truck and stood in front of it and it did not seem to be much brighter facing the truck than just having the low beam main headlights on. Any opinions on blinding oncoming vehicles?
I don't want to get in a fight with other drivers or run them off the road but I sure could see better with the combination of low beams and fog lights. Thanks.

I agree, about being able to see so much better. I have also used mine on 2 lane roads, and I have never had anybody flash there lights at me, so I don't really think it bothers anybody.

The fog lights really only light up only an area close to the truck. They may brighten up 20' in front of the truck. They are fog lights used in low visibility when driving slow. So use them when 20' in front is your stopping distance. I think it's silly to drive around with (4) lights but so many people are doing it now it really doesn't matter. Lately around here about 1/3 or the drivers need (4) lights now. I bet it's only a matter of time when some regulation come and forbids four lighters but for now it's your choice. But comming around a corner and seeing (4) lights in my eyes doesn't help on my end. I just shield my face with an arm till the four light driver passes. Or better yet ,on the highway the four light blast from the passing car thru the drivers mirror just requires an arm adjustment too. I would suggest some driving glasses instead of more lights. Also you can turn down your instrument lights at night you would be suprised how much better you can see without the bright glow from the instrument cluster. JMO.

There are some vehicles that fog lights are not adjusted right and do blind on coming traffic. Some newer chev/gm vehicles the fogs lights are way brighter than the reg lights. I don't see any use for them unless on a back road, areas where there is limited traffic and of course when there actually is fog in the air. Major highways and city streets not needed. But that's just me

If a vehicle's fog lights are blinding another drivers they are not adjusted correctly. Fog lights are meant to be aimed low so as not to reflect back off of the fog and into the driver's eyes.

I know I use them regularily to light up the sides of the roads particularily ditches to keep an eye out for critters about to cross the road large or small so I can avoid hitting them and as a habit leave them on all the time.

Well they bother the heck out of me! They need to be used with no on coming traffic and at least wait until its really dark out or in a dark area.Wife and I figure most of the folks with them on don't know how to use them or turn them OFF.They are not driving lights but FOG lights. Its almost as bad with HIGH beams. No courtesy! Years ago folks at even a HINT of on coming traffic dimed them old yellow standered lights. Now its just blind the heck out of on coming traffic.

The reason people use the fog lights with their dim lights is the dim lights are SORRY on these new Dodge trucks. I cannot see good at all without the FOG lights. Yes, they are for FOG, but if they make people see better because of these sorry Dodge lights, they are going to use them. No one has ever blinked their lights at me, but if they did of course I would turn fog lights off. If they were such a big problem, people would be blinking me all the time. 15K miles of driving and no blinking means I; and other people, will contiunue to use a tool that is available to make us see better.
