Fluidamper install and review

I just installed my fluidamper I have had for a month now but the install was really very simple and the two tips I have is 1 have a barring tool, I did not and I know it would have made things much simpler, and 2 go ahead and take the 2 13mm bolts out of the fan shroud before you start. The shroud is very soft and with the bolts out you can move it and that helps a lot. If there are any questions about the install I am glad to answer. It took me an hour, maybe an hour and a half but that includes going to a friends house to get a 1/2" drive 15mm cause I only had a 3/8s and my tq wrench is 1/2. This was also done in my yard too, I think with the right tools and an extra pair of hands I could do it in 30 minutes haveing done it once alread.

Impressions:

Honestly I am not that impressed. I know it is a good mod but I cant tell that it made my clutch any quieter, I attribute that to already haveing the sprung hub. I CAN tell that the motor does idle smoother and is quieter under the hood and I do like that, I just thought there would be more of a noticeable differance, it is NOT night and day like I thought it may be. IMO if you arent lookin for big hp numbers and you are not competeing in sled pulls or drag racing your money may be spent better else where, but this is just my opinion and I have only driven the truck a few mile since install. It does SEEM that it shifts slightly smoother though that could just be my imagination.

I will report back if I notice anything else after drivin the truck this weekend.

I did mine a couple weeks ago.I feel about the same as you.Smoother idle but no noticable difference driving.I feel like its cheap insurance for the bottom end of these high hp motors.
What did you torque your bolts too? I couldn't see(with the fan shroud in place)to torque to 30ft lbs plus 60* or 90*(can't remember which).I put a little locktite and torqued to 120ft lbs. Seems to be okay so far.

I had several mebers here (ones that know what they are doin more so than I) tell me to tq to 125 and to me that seemed easier than the 30ftlbs plus 60*s and I used a lil blue locktite cause it makes me all warm and fuzzy. I agree with the insureance part, my truck rarely sees above 2500rpms but I did bounce it off the redline tonight and everthing sounded good to me.

I may go back and retorque next weekend just to check but as far as the 120 I would that would be fine plus you used locktite plus the motor spins to where it should be constantly tightening the bolts.

I just drove about 30 miles round trip to get my new 315 MTZs. It does seem quite a bit quieter in the cab and at 55-60 mph all I really here is the turbo and the exhaust but even the exhaust seems to be more quiet in the cab.

Also I was wrong about not makin the clutch more quiet. If you are standing directly beside the truck you can still hear the clutch rattle but if you take a few steps away you can not hear it at all, just the motor (again quieter and it does seem smoother) and the exhaust.

Just thought I would report back that it did make a differance, I dont know if it is worth the cost, but I do like it and I am glad I have it on.

I will be drivig some more this afternoon and I will have a chance to cruise at 75-80mph and my drone is at its worst between 78 and 80 and I think and hope that the fluidamper may help the drone a little, but I also added a piece of 4" pipe to my 5" exhaust and this did help some already so maybe the damper will help even more.
