Flatbed from a old 5er frame??
I found an old gutted fifth wheel tt and was wondering if anyone knows if the axles and frame would be strong enough to carry a full size truck. I am talking about a 1976 27 foot winnebago. i have access to it cheap and putting some minor supports in that and adding a deck would be way cheaper than buying a flatbed.

1976 Chassis, that may still be back in the day of narrow axles. Figuring fenders in, measure the distance between the tires, it may be to narrow for your particular needs. The average camper trailer axle will give you about 73 clear inches between the wheels. Some of the older ones are less. Also the gauge of the steel is kind of light for a utility style flatbed. I built one this way about 10 yrs. ago and reinforced all the steel components. One advantage to this is, everythingis already squared up. So its just cut and weld. Good Luck Frank
