Question flat bed lighting got me confused

I recintly completed a flat bed for my pickup. I have in mo posession 4 led tail lights. Two are red the other two are amber. I want the amber to be blinkers and the reds to be tail/brake lights. My problem is that the wire for the blinkers is also the wire for the brake lights, so if I use that wire for blinkers when I hit the brakes the brake light and the blinker will light up bright. If I use it for the brake light my red tail lights will blink along with the amber lights. How do I get just a blinker signal and just a brake signal.

You may have to purchase an aftermarket splitter to break out the lites in the way you are describing. They sell little boxes that you can get to run your trailer lites in that manner, but I haven't seen them in a long time. The little computer box splits out your 2 lite system into the 3 lites for brakes, LT and RT..

Other than that its gonna be some custom wiring.. Probably from the front turn signals for your ambers and the High Brake Lite wire for your brake lites.

I will try to find that box I'm talking about.. Its been a few years since I have seen it. You might try to call a trailer dealer to see if they know about that type of product.

the box you speak of was what I was thinking but I wasn't sure if anything like that even existed, thanks for the confirmation. Now I can start trying to track one down.

Yeah I called auto electric place in town he said nothing to his knowledge like that exists. he said to tap into brake wire prior to its joining the blinker signal and run a seperate wire to rear of truck.

JC Whitney sells the little logic boxes, they are for putting on a 3rd brake light. I have one wired into my lighted Ram head hitch plug so it won't blink. The only time it flashes with the turn signals is when the hazards are on. Other than that you can't fool it. How do it know?

Less than $5 before shipping.

You might look into trailer suppliers (etrailer.com, etc). The same principle applie to independent tail light / blinkers such as the side markers on some of the larger trailers. Someone posted a link to one a while back, but i havent been able to find it.
