Okay I know everybody eles in here knows what it is, I on the other hand have no idea what this is. In searching the forums I understand that milage can be effected, some cases to the better. I Would just like to get a better understanding on what this process is, and if this would apply to me as well. My milage on my 4.5 I600 has never touched 16 and in recent tows across the province I was down under 10 mpg. The truck has around 12,000 miles on it now alot of that time was spent under the load of a 13,000/15,000 lb trailer. So I guess the question I have is, would this process apply to my truck? what is the process?(I also would like to know more then the dealer on this issue)Does it even apply to my truck at all?

Thanks

Hey, don't worry Pipes. I was in that same situation until very recently. Anyway this page has a list of TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) for Dodge trucks. The one everyone is talking about that does fuel economy, white smoke, and computer mpg accuracy is number 18-037-04 under the "Group: 18 - Vehicle Performance" heading. Click there and you'll ge the scoop.

Also, I thought there was a user here named Klenger (I don't know the spelling). He had a personal webpage and a link to get a more official-looking copy of this TSB. Hope this helps.

The TSB was applied to my truck 2 weeks ago. No change in mileage, still low 14's.

A "flash" is an electronic re-program of the ECU (Engine Control Unit). The ECU can be re-flashed by the dealer for upgrades, modifications, or if the ECU messed up somehow and they need to re-program it for any reason.

It's basically a change in the software in the computer.
