Ok. So my friend and I got drunk and started play fighting and I ended up punching a couple of holes in the sheetrock. I'm thinking I can putty over them but I thought I'd ask yall first. Thanks for the help.

Many options, 2 of my favorites:

Small holes: Use adhesive backed Reinforcing fiberglass screen, drywall mud over it. Smooth sand, paint.

Larger holes: Cut to square openings. Use thin plywood or other easy to use backing, cut LONGER than the squared hole. Using drywall screws, fasten wood strips BEHIND the drywall opening, driving screws through drywall bove or below the hole. Cut a new piece of drywall the same size as the squared hole. Fasten with drywall screws into the wood backing strips. Tape and mud seams, sand smooth and paint. Good as new!

Throw tequila away (in back of closet until next time......)

Redleg

For the bigger holes, you can also cut a perfectly square piece of drywall about 4 inches larger than your hole all around. Add a little more for larger holes. Draw your hole in the center of this patch on the face side. Cut away the outer drywall of the patch leaving the paper on. Put the patch in the hole and smoth over the "flaps" you made with joint compound. Also add a little compound to the edges of the hole before slipping the patch in. For real big ones, you'll have to add reinforcement as stated above, just watch for wires.

If you're going to do it then do it right. Cut a neat square out to the centerline of the studs on either side of the hole and then cut drywall to the same size as the square hole you just cut. Insert drywall, attach to studs with drywall screws, tape and float joints, texture and paint.

Find picture or poster 2/3 bigger than hole. Center pic/poster over hole and fasten with glue. Must be sober BEFORE repairs!

What Hoss mentioned is the way to go but I also suggest a stud nailed into place across between the two wall studs top and bottom of the hole. One time I noticed I had a nasty bow in the sheet rock and it looked WAY TOO OBVIOUS.

Or just make it the wreck room and use 3/4" plywood thru the whole room. Then punch it as much as you want and take pictures for us later. Might as well head butt it too.

as stated before, for moderate sized holes, you can just cut the hole square w/ a razor knife, then cut a square out of sheetrock, but cut it from the BACK so that you can leave a few inches of the paper visible... then mud it and texture it.
