Fitch fuel
Has anyone had expierence with this thing? One of the mags on the shelf this month. says they got 1.15 mpg improvment on the first tank.
http://www.fitchfuelcatalyst.com/cfm...726&drill=2727 Cost is a little high, but if it works as advertised would pay for itself. Thoughts?

A friend of mine and my brother are both shop lead techs at a major dealership here. A guy selling these gave their dealership a couple to test out. They put them on a couple vehicles and monitored the fuel consumption with scanners as well as hand calculated mileage. The vehicles showed an increase of over 2mpg. I saw a TV show a couple of weeks ago, I think it was hot rod TV where they had an engine on a dyno and measured BSFC before and after the installation of one of the fuel cats and the result was a decrease in BSFC. There was an article in an Australian magazine that tested these on diesels. They claimed that the bacteria that grows in diesel disintegrated when it went through the fuel cat into particles to small to do damage to the fuel system and resulted in cleaner fuel filters. I believe this was on an older mechanical injection system so the injectors were not as sensitive as ours. I for one am very skeptical of these things and even with these results would like to see more real testing done by a neutral party before I would consider getting one. With the auto manufactures needing to hit the CAFE standards, I would think if this was a viable option to them something like it would be installed on all the new vehicle from the factory. Maybe I can borrow one from my brother for a while and test it on my old 6.2 diesel in my Chevy.

Sounds a little fishy to me as well. It would be nice to hear some first hand information. I agree that if it really was as good as it sounds the big three would pick up on it. Sounds like those little pills you put in your tank. LOL

I've had one on my truck for over 4 years. I believe I am the first person on DTR to actually install the overpriced CTD version.
I had great success with it on my gassers cars-- on the diesel, I can't really say if it works as well or not. My truck was still not broken in when I installed it (it only had 10K miles or so).
Anecdotally, it seems to work, as I've consistently gotten better mpg than others with similarly equipped trucks. Smoke seems to be less.
I have documented proof that it works on gassers-- my 1997 Nissan Maxima showed MUCH improved emissions after installation. MPG went up almost 2mpg, and power improved slightly (but perceptibly).
On a diesel, I can't say if it works or not. I suspect it does, but definitely not as well as the gas application. The gas application was a different you could FEEL as well as measure easily...
I'm keeping mine.
As for the comments on snake oil-- I once thought that, too.

Mr. John Fitch is a very interesting guy. I watched a program about him on Discovery or something. He did a lot of land speed stuff back in the day. He was a test pilot, and engineer, fought in WWII and was shot down by the Germans and held as a POW. Very smart dude. I know that this means nothing as to whether his product works or not but it does seem interesting.

Everything I have read about this product says it works. It has been tested in Diesel Power mag and others with positive results. I'm interested in hearing more from those that use the Fitch, so thank you for your feedback.
