First Time Dodge Cummins Owner- Need Advice

I had Ford buy back my 6.0L today and also bought a (new to me) 2007 3500 Mage Cab 4wd 5.9L w/ 43k miles.

Aside from and scratched up bed it's immaculate... owned by an older woman never towed with.

No warranty work.

Anyways the regular maintenance has been done according to the book, but I noticed the Trans and Transfer case have not been done and the books states under normal use- she was a Realtor 100k miles?

The fluid is nice and pink and doesn't smell burnt or anything like that.

So what do I need to do here on this beast as with what kind of oil, filters, fuel filters etc.

It has a Fram oil filter on it now and she used Delo for the oil.

Delo is also what I used in my 6.0L Ford so I have some still.

Anything I need to be on the look out for.

Love the huge tank compared to my 6.0L.

I'll be installing a tail gate cap, a Pace Edwards roll top (my Ford's won't fit) a locking tail gate latch, my custom made 56 gal Aux in bed tank, my Prodigy Brake controller...she left the new harness in the glove box and my Scan Gauge 2.

I also notice no glow plug light coming on.

And the truck (motor) shakes a little when I turn it off...I've heard this is normal for a Cummins.

Thanks

Stay away from Fram filters , use Fleetguard = Cummins , Donaldson , Wix - makes Napa Gold , just to name a few .
If the fluid is pink , you could leave it .

Welcome to the DTR!

Congrats on the trade up.

Check out http://www.genosgarage.com/

X's 2 on staying away from Fram.

I like to change all the fluids and filters as soon as I buy a new vehicle so I know what is being used and to make sure it is done right, but that's just my personal preference.

Look out for the HVAC blower...turn it on and make sure the fan works properly. Also check for ball joints and u-joints for any play.

The Cummins uses grid heaters in the intake instead of glow plugs.

And lastly, Dodge makes it, Cummins shakes it.

OK...lol...here's the dilemma wife is with me when I go to diesel shop here where they specialize in Cummins and7.3L and big rigs. So I tell him what's going on and want specific filters. He says "I must have been on the internet" because he gets this a lot.

Anyways he and the owner inform me there are only 3 media makers world wide and that I should leave the Fram on for now as it's been recently serviced and then switch when it's due (in about 2500 miles) so I went ahead and got new filters for the next round.

I like to do the same with all the fluids but the wife is against it and after the guys at the shop looked it over they agreed with my wife.

I already checked the AC and ball joints.

The wife is reluctantly letting me put new tires on it on Friday as the original ones, although not worn out, are cracked pretty bad, and at least the shop people agreed I need tires ASAP.

I know I have more questions, but can't think of them off had right now.

Do some searching in the 3rd generation forum on "Fram" filters...

Your wife might change her mind after reading them!

What kinda tires are 'ya gettin'?

BFG All Terrain...factory size. I have had pretty decent luck with them and I do a lot of 4wd up at the ranch when hunting or helping out.

I don't lift trucks anymore.
