Hey guys, new to DTR and have never owned a cummins before and would appreciate some insight to better understand my 2008 6.7l engine?

First, Dodge dealers won't provide me with previous service history, either maintenance, nor warranty? Correction, they will verbally tell me what warranty service has been done, but will not print it out. As for the previous owner and their maintenance service done, my dealers say they can't even view that info. So, how am I to pick up where the previous owner left off. Any ideas how to get this info on record, would be appreciated?


Second, my '08 Cummins 6.7l does not start immediately, as did my '05 Duramax, or 2003 7.3l IH. My 6.7l cummins establishes idle mostly on the 5th revolution of the starter. Granted, San Diego weather is moderate and winter night time temps rarely get below 40 degrees. What's most unusual, is my engine starts quicker in the morning, vs when it is warm, with or without the wait to start light. Additionally, the morning start is smoother than the afternoon starts where the engine at times jerks violently, before establishing an idle. I started the dealers new '09's and they started right away, on the second revolution and were smooth even after sitting idle for 3 days on the lot. My service advisor at this same dealership told me normal start time was 2 - 5 seconds, according to their most experienced diesel tech, but none of this could be validated by a Cummins Technical Manual. I find it hard to believe this information is not available from Cummins. Would appreciate hearing from current 6.7l owners.

Do some reading in the 6.7 forum and ask questions there if you don't find the answers you are looking for.
