First things to do
First things to do
I just bought a stock 06 Ram CTD 4x4, QC, 3.73 48RE. Its hard for me to leave anything alone so of course comes these questions. I am trying to figure out how much of a difference you would see between the two scenarios. Consider buying a drop in air filter (K&N, Amsoil, etc) and then just changing out the muffler to an aftermarket vs buying a cold air intake and complete exhaust system. I figure its a difference of almost $500, would I see that much more improvement with the complete systems? Thanks
I think if you were to install a afe stage 2 and filter you would not be sorry. Hard to say how much power you gain but the sound and size of the new intake tube is much greater. If your looking to save money many people make there own aka the *****'s whistler check for that thread also just changing the muffler is a great idea most using nelson or donaldson as the stock exhaust is already 4" not much need to change tailpipe i learned that one little late but my mbrp looks great anyways

Intake: A drop in filter will do the trick but a cold air intake will flow more air & help lower your exhaust temps. Plus give you a better sound (turbo whistle)
.
Exhaust: Just change out the stock muffler for an aftermarket one with better flow, remove stock muffler totally & run just the kitty........Or loose both & straight pipe it....

I have seen some mufflers by MBRP and Silverline, any differences? Or, will they all provide the same results? I think I will spend the extra 150 for the intake, seems like a reasonable expense.

Personally, Im using Amsoil dropin filter and MBRP replacement and I noticed that the EGT s were about 50* lower after the installs.
Muffler is not much louder than stock in the cab on the road.
I dont think you would have emmission problems with a muffler change.
Without the cat you could.
