first oil change at 1026 sent to blackstone

why did they put the oil filter on the front right side what a pita with the wires below it
put in mobile delvac 15 40 for this 1000 miles and a wix filter will be towing a 3 horse living qtrs trailer Hart for over a thousand miles then going to mobile 5 40 truck suv. from thier any suggestion on speed rpms or even oils

new to dodges thanks

I changed my oil at a thounsand miles but the original oil filter is still on it. I can't get it off. Cutting torch?... NAH. I think I'll let Chrysler do it at 3750.

Take a normal oil filter wrench, lean over the passenger frt tire, lift back towards you the plastic inner fender well. Apply oil filter wrench and loosen the filter, then from under truck remove filter...

2 Oil filter wrenches later (bent in half at the handle) and an oilfilter socket wrench on my craftsman breaker bar (stripped oil filter) and ...any other ideas

Use a "good quality" strap wrench with a 1/2" breaker bar. If that doesn't work, try a screwdriver thru the side. If that doesn't work take it off in pieces and use a pipe wrench or cold chiesel on the threaded insert.

Regarding oil filter removal - get a metal strap type wrench that is made for a 3/8 or 1/2 drive ratchet (looks like a standard wrench without the handle) and the right size for the filter. Then with a long extension you can access the filter from the bottom, put the wrench up near the top of the filter so the can doesn't crush. It'l come off with a big enough handle. Then you don't have to buy the 3rd gen more expensive filters either (same filter, just costs more for the dimpled end).

mine was helacious tight from the factory, make it worse I don't think they lube them before they spin em dow via gorrila, they seem to save that 3 censt worth of oil for better things and spin it on there dry. as for getting it off, once you commit to the screwdriver through the side yes you will be finishing the job where you are so be ready to tear apart the filter till ya can get at the threaded section.

I've never laughed so hard. From changing oil at 1000 miles to wrestling with an oil filter.

I took my inner fenerwell off, only took me 3 minutes or so, and was tight but not a major problem with the fender out of the way.

well if you want to see how much silcon you are running through your motor on that initial form the factory fill you would be laughing about the ones that dont change it call blackstone to see what it typically has in it

I use a set of filter pliers.

Before I had those, I jammed a screwdriver through the filter and twisted it off. Not a recommended way to do it though.

I used a type that I used when I worked for Dodge, it goes on a ratchet and it has a gear driven clamp ,that clamps tighter the harder you pull on the ratchet.But my first change the filter almost fell off, it was so loose.

If DC or Cummins thought they had engine warranty issues they would stipulate in the owners manual to drop the oil after 2 days of driving. I oil sample everything I own. Silicon on this truck was 12 on the first oil change. That was at 16k.
