First impressions - '06 2500 with Bully Dog Triple Dog Downloader

Well, after many hours of research and reading, I pulled the trigger on a new Bully Dog Triple Dog Downloader. I received it in the mail today and took the truck for a spin. What a shock - the performance gains are incredible. Given the large number of threads about performance products, I thought I would give my $0.02 back to the group with my info. FYI - I have a 2006 2500 4x4 with the automatic tranny and 1800 miles on the odometer.

I received the unit today (Bully Dog Triple Dog Downloader with Outlook Monitor) and ripped open the package. After opening the box, I removed the unit from the black protective case and turned on my PC to download the latest software. Once plugged via the USB cable (not supplied), the unit was immediately recognized and working. I downloaded the updated software from Bully Dog (unit was shipped with v2.3.1 and v2.3.3 was available) and spent about 5-7mins updating the unit.

Went out to the truck, plugged in the unit using the OBD-II cable, and followed the step-by-step instructions. After another 7 or so minutes, my truck was ready. I selected the "Performance" mode, and my son (6rs old) and I took it for a spin.

I was totally shocked with the performance gains of this unit! Crusing around town, I felt as if I was in my old gasser. Take offs were very crisp and clean, no weird engine noises or rough shifts. During the 30min or so of running, I never hit the pedal more than 1/4 the way down and had plenty of acceleration. In fact, I was more afraid of the power than anything. At one point, we were at an intersection, I gave it about 1/4 pedal, and the back tires lit up like Christmas. My son was sitting in the back seat grinning from ear to ear - and I was looking for the police to hunt me down!

At this point, I have not installed the Outlook Monitor because I have a set of A-Pillar gauges to install. I am debating on installing the monitor because I don't know what it will provide over the mechanical gauges. But, according to the instructions, the monitor installation should not take too long (other than drilling/taping the pyrometer probe).

Anyway, just wanted to give my experience with this unit to other folks on the forums. I have not tried any other unit but am very pleased with this one.

the BD outlook will do both post & pre Pyro's
the extra pyro is ~$20 from my dealer

it's 2 gauges in one.

you will want the outlook to change on the fly,
so you don't have to take the BDDLTD with you,

say if you run back home in Perf Mode,
and want to tow something back,
easy cheezy
