Finaly got one!

After looking for more than nine months I finally bought a Ram!

It's a 2001.5 2500 4x4 slt laramie extended cab long box. It has 180kms on it, mechanically in good shape (my friend the diesel mechanic checked it out prior to purchase) it use to be a roofing contractors truck so the body is a little rough but I paid 17,000$ cdn so I got a good deal. I also have bills proving the vp44, turbo and lift pump were changed less than a year ago.

The only bad surprise so far was when new tires were installed the factory aluminum rims had cracks in them on the inside, they don't leak yet but I thick I will get a set of cheep black steel rims for the winter while I decide what to do about the cracked rims. My local Dodge dealer wants 560$.... each to replace the two cracked ones. Is that the going price? I haven't relay checked but I'm sure I could get some quality after market for less money than that.

Congrats on the truck! Yes, you can do way better on rims than $560 each. You can get a set of alumunim for that!

You really should put a fuel pressure gaugeon it ASAP, the LPs on those trucks are far from reliable...

Yep..
I still have about a years worth of guarantee on the vp44 from the place that changed it but the fuel pressure gauge is high on the list.

Thats awesome that you still have that much VP warranty yet. Is it unlimited mileage, or just more than you will put on it in a year?

The warrantee is offered by the shop that installed it for the trucks previous owner. Before buying the truck I talked to owner of the shop and he said that he would still honor the one year guarantee even though the truck was changing hands. I don't plan to be putting a lot of mileage on as I still drive my company supplied E350 for work.. but man is it nice to come home to the Ram! I can hardly believe the difference in fuel economy, I topped off the Ram and drove it for 100 km before the needle moved off full! In the Econoline I would have burnt about 1/4 to 3/16 of a tank and they are both about 100l tanks. It also goes without saying that the SLT cab is like a luxury hotel suite compared to the Ecnolines shum what less than "comfortable" interior. The wheel thing was a disappointment and the cruse doesn't seem to work but I am still super happy with my purchase.
