Well, I finally took the time to install the Poineer nav system and got rid of the woodgrain dash and doors. Some people like the wood but its not me. Putting in the nav wasnt hard but then I had to bypass the whole factory Infinity system cause I used 4 way speakers all the way around instead of seperate component speakers. I love the poineer system but the voice recognition system pretty much sucks when you try to get it to find a album you want to play using voice. I manually have to do that but its worth having the system.

I used Pioneer 4 way 200 watt speakers. And the pioneer nav is 80 watts per channel so its way more sound than I can use. I get it up to 50 on the volume level and I can hear myself speak. And thats too loud for me.

Never been a fan of the Pioneer 4 way, the super tweeter is annoying as ****. If you ever want to upgrade the system hit me up and i can help you out. If you wanted to intergrate your factory system theres some ways you can do it.

Why is the super tweet annoying? I had the system tied into the factory amp and such but since I didnt get speakers that were mids, highs, and lows when I did have it hooked up to the amp it sounded like crap. I also didnt have to purchase that special adaptor that was like 130 bucks to run from the stereo to the amp so that saved me a ton of money there. It really does sound pretty nice to me. And its all done in the simpliest way and basic way.

The supertweeter is annoying because it is really 'bright'. When you drive it to full RMS (which it is getting nowhere near, trust me) And your speakers are 'mid,high and low' technically, at least in the sense that your factory speakers were 'mid, high and low' so these ones arent any different besides the fact that your stock speakers were components and these arent.

Factory amps usually do sound like a$$ unless there paired with the stock HU (headunit) now that you have an aftermarket one everything has changed im guessing that the reason that $130 part is a $130 is because it makes you use your factory amps. Which i think you did the right thing by bypassing it because factory amps usually dont put out a whole lot of wattage compared to there aftermarket counterparts.

Im not saying it doesnt sound good, obviously cause im not there to listen to it, and if it works for you it works for you. I just thought i would throw in my .02 and say that if you ever wanted to upgrade to somethin ALOT better it can be had for not much money prob in and around $500.

I don't mind wood grain if it's done nicely, but the wood grain we have is on the verge or being leopard skin. I like what you did with yours, I was going to do the same here shortly.

I didn't know these came with the Infinity system. Makes it difficult to do alot aftermarket, let alone find replacements.

thanks. You wont regret painting the woodgrain. It would look nice in a mercedes but just doesnt work for a truck in my opinion. If you have a infinity system they are set up ok from the factory but once you start changing things which is for the better you might as well dump it all.

It shouldnt be difficult swapping out components from factory. What part of it is hard? There might just be extra steps you have to take.

I didnt swap them out I just left the amp in there and hardwired the speakers myself and all the other wires and I did the bypass so I can watch videos and set my gps setting while driving or have the wifey do it.

Thats what im saying is that it shouldnt be hard to swap out speakers at all. In fact theres factory modules that you can use to plug into the factory amps and use all the factory settings, steering wheel controls, etc. theres a ton of other things that you can do with them to but they also can boost amp power and they also help in adding other stuff down the road.

When I got the truck it has a pretty nice setup with amps and all even the steering wheel controls but they didnt work and the head unit was to confusing so I sold it all and installed the CNSD-100FM Pioneer nav system and ran wires directly to the speakers from the back of the new nav system. Now I am looking for the 3.0 update.

Actually I think it makes things easier, cause all you gotta do is tear all of that crap out. The reason I bought an SLT rather than a Laramie was to avoid the Infinity system, cause I knew I would literally remove every part of it. Second reason was Im not a big fan of woodgrain. I do wish I had the steering wheel controls, and those can be added, and love leather seats, so I just had the dealer add them for me.

The Infinity that has the reputation of quality and the Infinity that Chrysler puts in there vehicle are related only in name. The speakers that came with the Chrysler "Infinity" system is little more than paper coned speakers with the name Infinity painted on the magnet, its junk. A quality aftermarket system, hell even a Walmart aftermarket system, properly installed and tuned sounds worlds better than a factory system.

I just recently re-installed all of my after market system. My Pioneer D3 nav deck died and I replaced it with a Premier P800BT. I was just looking for a radio that plays clean and has Bluetooth, Ive grown tired of the touch screens. Pioneer 5way 6x9 in front, 4 way 6.5 in rear, powered by a Pioneer 600 watt 4 channel amp, 2 JLW3V3 12's and JL500/1 in a custom mega cab box made by me. Sounds great and was done for under 1500 bucks. As much as I like my Pioneer speakers if they or the hi amp ever die, there getting replaced with a JL hi amp and JL components, sure they are way more expensive, but way worth it.

Sorry for the long post, just get a little long winded on one of my favorite subjects.


Oh and wayne, thats a great looking install... couldnt have done it better myself.
