Ferd's can't use big truck fuel nozzles
Was filling up my truck last night and a Ferd pulled up to the other side of the pump. Got into a conversation with the guy about using the much faster big rig pumps and he told me his truck fuel neck would not let him use the big rig nozzles. Seems that it will take a small deisel pump nozzle but not the monster fuel movers. Makes me wonder about the "Better Idea" guys :

You would think they would have put the bigger fuel neck (I started to say orifice, but those are usually behind the steering wheel) on the Powerjokes since they seem to be marketing to the fiver crowd. Can't imagine having to jack a PSD with a big fiver hooked to it around to get into some of these car diesel pumps

Dang these $50+ stops at the fuel island :'(

The '96 PSD I had could fit the nozzle, but I don't think the neck is vented enough to just put it in and set it. You could do it, you have to actually have to hold the nozzle though. PITA. What else can you do when you have a fifth wheel and a boat in tow?

I have a 2002 SD/PSD and I can use the big nozzles with no problems, help, etc. I think they changed that on the 2000 or 2001's...I've used the big boy nozzles lots of times... :

When I had a Furd, it would not take the big nozzel, because the vent was not big enough. The two dodges I've had will take the big nozzel with no problem at Half speed.

I'm told or I've read either here or TDR, that the large nozzel at moderate speed in the Dodge can possibly due damage to the Fuel tank sensor because of the high volume fill.

Don't know if thats true, but you might consider that.

Dave

my 97 will take the big rig nozzle but i cant run it at full.about 1/2 i guess. seems just as fast at the little pumps out with the gassers. plus heading down 95 to fla this march, all of the truckstops i pulled into wouldnt let me fuel with the big nozzle anyway....had to have a company card or something like that .. anyway have fun guys, scott

I can use them at full pressure. ??? I just leave it partially out so it has more area to vent out of. If it damages my fuel sending unit, Dodge can replace it.
