FASS - not so quiet (Video Below)
So I had a FASS HP150 pump on my 03 truck. When it got totaled in April I took the pump off and sent it to Diesel Performance for the "quiet" fix because it was a screamer. Read about the fix and listened to the videos so I shipped it in and got it back about a week later. Honestly I couldn't tell if anything had been done. Looked the same to me but a little cleaner.
Fast forward to today.....I installed the pump on my new 06 mega. I was hesitant to do so because I love how civilized this truck is compared to my 03. Well burn my a** the pump still screams. My wife can hear it from inside the house when I pull the truck into the garage. The install went fine and I like the performance and 20 psi of pressure, but dang it this thing is loud. It's actually a little embarrassing how load it screams.
Sooo what do I do now? I'm open to suggestions. I know I can buy a different pump. This really burns me since it's been to DPP and supposable been made quiet. I've got a lot of time and now money (I've purchased 2 sets of installation kits).

that's weird I heard a new one just a month or so ago it was pretty quiet I thought??? and after reading all the loud complaints I expected more noise...I was actually impressed with it. No way you could hear it in a house

it's one of the reasons i'm going with air dog or glacier- don't need everyone knowing i'm running a lift pump. also heard dodge service dept. gives fass users an interesting look when they pull in for warranty work.

I hear ya
You know I was really expecting this thing to be a lot quieter. I'm hoping Diesel Dan can give me a little help here too. I'm wondering if the pump even had the quiet fix done on it. It's loud!

I had the 95 gph pump on my 05. it was professionally installed and it was very loud. it got annoying after about the 3rd day it was on. I left it on the truck when it was traded in. It wasnt worth taking off in my opinion. lots of guys say its how you mount it makes it loud. could you put some thin rubber between the pump and the bracket to quiet it down maybe?

Mounting
You know with the newer pumps they have a new mount. It's an all aluminum two piece mount with only two bolts. Looks like a good mount and much easier to install then the old mount. Well I went ahead and put some thin rubber gaskets behind it to isolate it, but it's just the pump. It screams! Thanks for the input guys. Mr. Diesel Dan needs to chime in on this because its ridiculous. I think I tolerated it on my 03 because it was just a louder truck. My 06 is sooo much quieter so I can really hear the FASS even with the radio on .

Makes me
Makes me wonder if they even did anything to the pump. I wonder if they keep records of which pumps have been updated. It would be really nice if you could call them and ask questions. I'll just have to wait and see if Mr. Dan reads this tread. I'll get some video of this screaming pump tonight.

Well what do you guys think? Sound familiar to any of you guys? Like I said it sounds like it used to if not louder then when I had it installed on my 03. This is after the "Quiet" fix from Diesel Performance themselves.

That is definitely not right. I think it sounds like cavitation due to a restricted supply/pick-up somehow. The 06 stock pump is in tank right. Did you just connect the fass supply to the stock fitting on the tank?
