FASS - need to keep at least 1/8 tank

I'm about to pick up my 2001 truck after having a FASS and VP44 installed. I just got off the phone, and the mechanic is saying that I'll need to at least keep 1/8 tank of fuel else the truck will suck air with the FASS? Is that right or is there something else that needs to be done - would hate to run out of diesel on a long empty stretch in that I'm use to the idiot lite coming on at 1/8 tank to remind me? Thanks, DD

Did they change the pickup in the tank? If not, then it should work like it did before. If they changed out the in-tank pickup and did a Draw Straw, then they may have cut it a bit short so that it's not right on the bottom of the tank, which would cause issues with a low fuel level while in motion.

hopefully they did nothing to the in tank setup - no drawstraw. I'll ask to be sure. The mechanic did tell me that I'll need to be sure to keep tank 1/4 full and more else risk chance of sucking air - which is what I though the FASS was designed to alleviate as in "fuel air separator system"? If this is true - that I need to keep 1/4 tank of more, is there an another modification needed in tank to make sure the FASS doesn't suck air? Thanks, DD
