Before you buy one look at a Walbro kit from Glacier Diesel. Simple and reliable. And easy to fix on the road if needed.

I'd go with the Glacier Diesel GDP 392 with 2mk filter and big line kit. The Walbro pump is great and quiet. I've got mine set at 40 psi (get a billet fuel filter cap) so it don't blow off....
I've had the old FASS and they are loud, I don't know about the new one's that are supposed to be quieter???
My GDP is so quiet, I sometimes just have to bump the starter and crawl under my truck to see if it's running... naw, just kiddin'... my fuel pressure guage reads 40 psi, at WOT it only drops to 38...
The GDP is about the same price if you get the competition kit (adjustable FP up to 100 PSI) and the 2 mk filter/big line kit...

I've never heard a FASS other than mine so it may be a new quiet one but honestly unless I roll down the window and turn the stereo right down I can't hear it.

Same here on the FASS noise. I've had my HPFP for nearly two years and couldn't be more satisfied. Idle at 19, down the highway at 18, and have never seen it below 16. Comparativly priced and VERY easy to install. I've never had a Glacier, but I have seen one installed, and to me the FASS HPFP is much easier. JMHO

I'd run a fass. Been around the pumps for many years and they have been great. Yes there are some bad ones but if you'll look at the number of fass pumps out on the road and the number that are being produced then there's bound to be a bad one now and again. Let's not forget that they've got the best warranty on the market. 6 years I believe. And there tech specialist, Diesel-Dan, is online and will answer your questions on the forums as well as help you over the phone. I'd definately stick with the fass. The idea they have about removing air from the system is very ingenious and smart thinking. I've also seen a walbro install and I wasn't impressed. To many parts. Not to mention that the walbro just hasn't been out there long enough to be proven. I also like the fact that the fass motors are physically bigger and the parts inside are physically bigger. I like things that are over built.

I know ya'll are referring to my install at our last meet. You gotta remember that I was doing 4 different things to my truck during that install that made it seem much more complicated and long. 1. Vent tank mod. 2. Fuel hoses placed on the plastic barbed fittings on top of the tank mod. 3. Walbro pump install. 4. Remote Big line kit with 2 micron filtration. The first 2 mods are the only reason for dropping the tank and all that went with that. If we had only installed the Walbro pump by itself I don't see how it would have been much, if any, more complicated than a FASS HPFP install.

I am not knocking the FASS at all. Great pump and of course Dan is great to work with!!!

But I don't think I have EVER read of an unhappy Walbro pump owner on this board! At least not in the 3rd gen forums. They get the job done and are feeding several 800+ hp trucks. Richard at GDP offers great customer service too. I am sure that somewhere, somebody has had a Walbro pump failure, but I don't know who it is. They are not on DTR. I can't say that about FASS pumps.

I am certainly happy with mine! Great FP (18psi at idle and holding 16ish) with Smarty on 9!

I was referring to your truck but you've also gotta remember that the walbro has only been out for a little over a year where as the FASS has been out for 8 years. A lot more time to prove itself and get the bugs worked out. Give the walbro time and I promise that you will hear about failures with it just like you do with the FASS. With any mass produced product there are bound to be failures. Just the nature of the game. Also, I installed crobtex's HPFP and I promise that it woulda been easier than a walbro. Took us an hour and that included drinking beer and BS'ing and having fun. The hardest part was getting the drill at the right angle to drill the holes.
