FASS: FP gauge & noise
No, these questions aren't related, except that the noise made me think of the first.
First, before I bought my fass, I installed a fp gauge. I added a T-fitting near the stock location to plumb it in and also used this after I added my fass.
My question is, should I have used the port on the fass in order to get a more accurate reading? Could I get a false reading from the injector pump pulling the fuel if there is a pump failure?
Also, my fass has started making a very loud resonating noise through my bed and cab. I thought I had read about this problem in the past. Does anyone else have this problem?

I haven't heard much about the new sysyems being very noisy. On my '99, with the HPFP, I put a piece of thin rubber pad between the bracket and the bed frame, and it greatly reduced the resonating noise.
I don't think the length of line between the FASS and the gage will cause a problem. That sucker puts out enough constant pressure that a few feet of hose should not make any difference.

I also put a 3/8" piece of rubber between the mount and the bed.
It is considerably louder now than it was last week. Its been on the truck for about a year, and something has definitely changed. That's why I was concerned about false readings from the fp gauge. But I guess a false reading might only show up at idle.

Best place to have your fuel pressure gauge is as close to the IP as possible. Who cares how much pressure the FASS is creating, you care about how much pressure is at the IP.
If your LP died, you would see zero pressure. Pressure in the supply line would be below atmospheric, so unless your gauge reads PSIA, you will be at zero.

Most accurate reading would be directly at the IP port. Who knows if a fuel line between the filter and pump is pinched and creating a major restriction. This is where a snubber and liquid filled gauge would be good. But I definitely see your point. I run mine off the fuel filter canister, no problems yet.

I run my fuel pressure gauge off a T that connects directly into the IP fitting. I use a needle valve to control pulses that runs directly to my fuel gauge. I don't see any pulses and have not had any problems.
I think the closer you monitor your fuel pressure to the VP the better off you are!!
