f350 7.4 vs 5.9 ctd
I'm looking to purchase my first diesel in the VERY near future. I wanted to go straight to the top of the heap so I've selected an 01, 3500 qc, 4x4 5spd 5.9 ctd with 355 gears and 32's.
Last night I pulled my 5-6K boat with my sons f350 7.4, auto, 37's - dont know what rear gears it had. While it certainbly pulled it subsdtantially better than my 77 350 chev (with 4.10's) I wasn't exceptionally impressed.
Maybe its cause I'm not used to diesels yet?
Please tell me my ctd is gonna out pull the darn f350.....

I used my uncle's 97 stroker- stock except k&n to pull his camper and trailer at the same time; quite a load
My wife was following me in my 98 12valve with a lighter camper, and I kept trying to out-run her. I called her on the phone after one attempt, and she didn't even realize we were racing
she han NO trouble keeping up, and probably could have passed pretty easy.

Why else would Ford charge MORE to put a 5.9L Cummins in the F750 over the standard equipped Powerjoke?
