Extra efficient Wix / Napa oil filters

For those who want an oil filter that filters out smaller elements, Wix makes a filter for you.

Napa # 7620XE

Wix # 57620XE

These are 14 micron filters.

I dont know if they are any better, but I know Wix makes quality filters and thats what I use.
I couldnt find a micron rating in the Fleetguard filters, so I cant compare that aspect.

The Fleetguard Stratapore filters are a 25 micron. I use the Baldwin BT7339 as they are 12 micron.

micron @ what % ?

The micron rating alone doesn't mean much, you need to know how much of that size is being removed. This can also be reported as a beta ratio.

I have heard, but not confirmed, the Fleetguard Stratapore LF16025 is 98.7% at 27 mircons, 60% at 10 microns.

Anyone of those manufacture actually test flow volume?

Fleetguard outflows them all and is tested with Cummins engines who does wix and baldwin test with?

Fleetguard's upgrade is the same as Napa/ Wix regular filter. Fleetguard calls it an upgrade because it is fluted. It is standard on the Napa 7620.

Fleetguard's regular filter is the same as Napa's 1607 found on earlier model Cummins engines.

The 7620xe/57620xe has a paper/glass media, where the 7620/57620 is primarily paper.
I cannot find any info on Baldwin or Fleetguard media.

The Napa/ Wix filters both flow 12-15 GPM
The 7620 beta ratio is 2/20=20/30
The 7620XE beta ratio is 2/20=14/25
Whatever those numbers mean, I dont have a clue..

I cant find any additional info on Fleetguard or Baldwins site.

Sorry the Napa/Wix are not Fleetguards.
Fleetguard's are manufactured by Fleetguard the Napa/Wix are manufactured by Wix a subsidiary of Dana Corp.

Fleetguard offers a standard fluted and Stratopore fluted oil filter.
Also, they offer a standard round bottom Stratopore, Cellulose and Standard media oil filters for the Cummins B series.

Stratopore media is patented and exclusive to the Fleetguard brand as they are the ones who invented it.
Fleetguard is a Cummins Inc. Company.

Somewhere on this site they is a picture of the Fleetguard sitting next to the "Napa Gold" or whatever they call it and the difference is very noticable as to which filter will flow more and which one is larger.

Hey buddy, dont turn my words around. Thats not what I meant. Fleetguard calls theirs an upgrade because it is fluted. They are the same in that the Fleetguard "upgrade" and the standard WIX are both fluted and have a paper media. Fo shizzle.

I havent turned any words around.

You said "fleetguards are the same as Napa's"

I corrected your statement.

Maybe you need to check what your write before you write it.

Yep, the Napa 1060R (racing filter) flows more than a 1060 (Napa Gold) and yep, thats what they call it, but thats for HIGH oil pressure/ High volume racing engines. It will also void the warranty to use on of these because it flows so high and they dont filter as good.... hence, the high flow rate. Im sure a Fram will flow pretty good, but I wouldnt have one on my truck cause they dont filter dirt.

I like Fleetguard and Baldwin. Dont get me wrong-- they are heavy duty. If my family hadnt owned a Napa store for over 50yrs, I may have used one of the two. I am not trying to trash either of the two. I am simply telling people of a Wix filter that most people have never been exposed to.

I love how someone always has to play the Fram card. Has anyone ever looked at the actual test data for the Fram filters. Also I have some Fram filters here with the Stratapore logo right on them. So I guess the statement that it is Fleetguard exclusive is not correct.

I've never use a Fleetguard filter on either of my diesels. Well, except the one from the factory that is.

I always used Baldwin filters all around, except my local supplier now says they don't carry them for my truck, only big rigs... So I found a place online and ordered up a half dozen of the Wix 57620XE's, 3 fuel filters and an air filter. Should be set for awhile w/ 7500 mile change intervals for oil and 15000 for fuel.
