I bought one through the dealership. You can shop around for them a little. Make sure you get a genuine Daimler/Chrysler warranty and not one of those aftermarket ones. I have heard bad stories of the companies going out of business and trying to get the company to pay for warranty items.

I think that they are a good idea to an extent. Since the engine and it's components comes with a 100K warranty, the extended warranty is only going to cover everything else ensued within the vehicle. I have a 6yr/60k warranty on mine and the mileage is DEFINITELY going to come first. However, I plan on putting a billet tranny in my truck after deployment, which will void the tranny warranty on the truck and I will be fine with it because the tranny I buy will have a better warranty than the stocker anyway. The only thing I care that my dealership does for me is all the little stuff like TSBs, etc, throughout the rest of the vehicle over the next couple years. So I guess it all depends mostly on whether you are going to modify or not.

I think they are a good Idea if you never surf any forums.....if you do you will just bit the bullet and void it with power mods anyways, so you might as well save your cash and buy your first mod in stead of the extended warranty

I hear ya and as quickly as dealers are to void a warranty these days (especially the Dodge dealerships as I have heard that Ford and Chevy customer service is GREAT from a bunch of my friends) they have to prove without a DOUBT that said piece of equipment caused the failure. Example: You replace your OEM exhaust with aftermarket...well your OEM exhaust warranty is no longer covered, but the dealer can't PROVE that your aftermarket exhaust caused the number 4 injector to fail...so I say, bomb away...it's not until you go into things like boxes, downloaders, etc that you really have to fear voiding the warranty.

extended warranties are a sales gimmick

Extended warranties are a trick dealers use to fatten their bottom line. Stay away from extended warranties and keep your money in your pocket.
