Question Exhaust Tip - 12" or 18"?

Wanted to find out if the 18" will fit on our trucks without hitting the first bend in the pipe and sticking out to far. I like the look of more tip without seeing that reduction to the oem pipe and I dont mind if it does stick out a couple more inches that stock (less soot). Does anyone have experience with this? If the 18 is too long than I will get the 12. Thanks.

I just measured and 18" will be fine. There looks to be plenty of room for a 24" tip!

Mine is 5" diameter and 12" long, and now that my truck is lifted a bit it looks small. I may go for a 6" diameter x 18" long tip soon.

Without welding it, whats the best way to keep it on there? I was thinking of using a band clamp or are the "pinch" clamps better? I'm not sure if the tip I'm looking at has a clamp with it so thats why I ask.

I just ordered a 15" SS tip. Did the measuring to the stock tailpipe and a 18" will fit also.

This one which I got from DPPI has a built in clamp. You really need to get it tight or it comes loose. Putting the impact wrench on it solved any problems with that. This tip is huge!!!!

I've got an 18" stainless turn down on mine, had to shorten the tail pipe up some to get it to land where I wanted it, no problem with the bend though.

I cut my stock pipe off and put a 5" x 18" on it, looks great I think!! I had a 12" on my 01, and I think the 18" looks much better. I actually had to cut slits on both sides so the clamp would draw tight. The stock pipe must not be full 4" at the point I clamped it.
Oh well, I won't need it much longer, I have stacks in the works!!

Ya, I'd like to see that. How far under it goes and how far it sticks out.

Tip

I just uploaded the pic's!! Just awaiting approval. I will post when they are approoved. I just ordered a Dual 5" system with the same tips. I am frothing at the mouth. I can't wait to get it and get it installed. Put for now 1 6" x 24 will work.

I had it on the SRW 03 too. On that truck I cut about 5" off the pipe and it fit just fine. You want it to stick out past the fender some to keep the soot down on the quarter panel....

It was a lot further under the 03. On the dually I wanted it to stick out past the fat fenders since the truck is white. It's a nice tip...
