Exhaust stock or not.
I've heard that many guys just go for a perf. muffler in teh stock system. I don't plan on going wild past a puck and/or programmer but I like the way a true 4" turbo back sounds on my 96 and my old 99. Does anybody who has done it like the sound of a modified stock compared to a true perf 4''?

go with a turbo back system, the stock system was not intended for anything other than the truck being stock. if u go with a turbo back u will get better materials, improved sound, better exhaust flow, a few more horse power and reduced egt's. a 4 inch system might work a little better than a 5 inch since u only plan to do a programmer. since u live up north go with a stainless system and also look into a good intake. hope that helps ya

Its not bad, theres a slight drone when the convertor locks @ 50-55mph, other than that, nothing at all really.
Its loud, but like Forrest said, I lined the floor(back so far, about to do the front), back of the cab, and doors with sound deadener. Its cut down on any resonance quite a bit.
When I get some more free time(and money) ill pick up another roll of RAAM mat to do the roof/front floor area.
