Exhaust Question

Im thinking of pulling my Muffler or Resonator (sp??) off my truck. My question is what sounds better, without the Muffler or Resonator?? I've heard them without both and think its too loud. Just trying to find a happy medium so I don't p*ss off my wife.

When I did mine, I had the muffler replaced with MBRP straight thru.
This gave it a low end grunt and when at hioway speed there isnt anymore noise than stock.
I didnt do anything with the resonator simply because I dont have one.
