exhaust looks totally wrong

so i got my 4" exhaust for my 96 cummins and instead of a raised ring that clamps onto the back of the turbo like iv seen before on previous exhaust systems iv done this has a flare at the end and a bracket with to bolts that supposedly hold it on to the turbo but there isnt anything close to to that setup on the back of the turbo i have. whats the deal am i missing a piece of are some turbos different?

IF you have the factory turbo(94-02) on your rig you'll need the factory cast elbow that clamps to the back of the exhaust housing via a Vband clamp. On the outlet side this elbow has a matching taper and 2 holes for the downpipe you have now.

If you have a first gen engine you'll need to get a first gen downpipe. I cant remember if they had the cast iron elbow I suggested above or not.

Partially true. 94-98 should have a cast elbow that clamps via V-band clamp to the exhaust outlet. The 98.5-02 have the elbow incorporated into the exhaust housing backplate.
