Cool Exhaust, and TuffCountry lift

2002 2500 ctd.
Where is this 'silencer ring' i keep reading about, and what gains or losses would i get for pulling the can and straight piping the exhaust?
Also, looking into the tuff country 5" suspension lift.
Any comments on their system / products before i shell out a grand?

And does anyone have a good dealer for skyjacker? i want a quote for their lift, but cant get a dealer that isnt a car lot up in Connecticut!

Pulling the silencer ring will make the turbo louder. Nothing else. Straight piping the exhaust will help a little with spool up, MPG, and EGT's. Plus it sounds down right AWESOME!!! I highly recommend doing both.

Take the intake hose off the turbo, sitting there in the neck will be a flat round piece of thin metal held in by a snap ring.

You'll need a couple of small screwdrivers to get the snap ring out, being careful not to mar the turbo.

Once you get the snap ring out, the silencer ring should come right out.

No idea of any local Skyjacker distributors,
(since your location is a bit vague)
but if you can find a 4x4 shop, they should be.
If not, internet is the best way, then either install yourself or find someone who knows what they are doing.

I got mine locally from Jack-it.
They have a website, and ship nationally, www.jackit.com
They are distributors for almost all lift companies.

4 Wheel Parts is where I got my Skyjacker lift, including installation. Great product, and can't say enough about the install.

Uh, yeah, stay away from the car lots!

That piece of metal is the silencer ring (high tech isn't it), and no, leave it and the snap ring out.
