Where exactly to tap on an ATS manifold

One would think the answer is obvious, but I, like a few others, thought that the center section came tapped for a pyro already.

I'm thinking roughly half way between the flanges, between #3 exhaust port and turbo.

Am I screwed up as a football bat?

Every ATS I've dealt with has a round raised area where you drill/tap. Same location as on a stock manifold.

Consensus is that #6 runs the hottest, so you want to monitor it's output.

Also, there is a divider/support inside the manifold dead center, and you don't want to drill into that.

Thanks

Suspected it might have to do with better reading on #6.

Thanks guys. I was under the mistaken impression that #1 ran hotter. Now if I can just find time to put my goodies in......

I've heard that lately as well.

Someone here (Dieseldude4x4?) recently melted his #1 piston, or something like that.
Maybe it was Haulin_in_Dixie?

All I know is, as long as I've been here, they all say to tap that side of the manifold.

For what it's worth, Piers says #1 is hotter on 24 valves, #6 on 12s

Suprising

Of the few (very few) 24v engines I have heard of that fried themselves, all discussed most damage done to #6 piston.

I've heard the opposite of that. The 12V head has casting in the #1 intake port that hurts its flow. he EGTs are normally a little higher up front for that reason. Like RJohnson, every 24V I have seen burnt up had the #6 cylinder toasted.

Easy solution. Put a probe in both locations and take the average. That should give you a good idea of where your temp should be.

Not saying PDR is wrong, but this is an old post from testing on the Banks Twin Ram. He showed #1 to be the hottest.
