What Exactly Does Smarty Do ?

im considering purchasing a smarty and want to know exactly what it does to make power, boost, fuel, timing, etc. in other words, will i need to stack something w/ the smarty to make up for anything the smarty doesnt do?

i currently have a stock turbo and fuel system, but i plan on adding twins in the future and making fuel and tranny upgrades. i would like to make around 400-500whp. will i need to stack anything w/ the smarty at that point and for what reason? THANKS.

With Smarty alone on highest level you will make close to 500hp. Smarty fuels primarily through Timing and Duration. These alone will affect the boost too. You can stack a simple pressure box (like say an MP-8)to get some more power. You don't NEED to stack to get where you say you want to be though (400-500). You will be over 400 rwhp using Smarty middle settings. You are wise to do the other upgrades with the smarty too... When you get the twins, look out! Smarty alone on upper levels with twins will push you over 500 no problem. The Smarty "early " beta files like 4.2-4.4 add even more power and do manipulate pressure more as well.

You shouldn't have to stack the smarty to get to the horsepower level you want.

Smarty is a downloader and it basically loads a whole new program into your ECM that contains different fuel maps and all the other associated stuff. It mainly increases timing and injector pulse duration. Its basically the same process Dodge would use to flash your truck for the white smoke TSB for instance. I really don't know how else to explain it.

In contrast other boxes intercept signals and alter them to cause you to get more fuel. So with a downloader you can get a more finely tuned product.

I like my Smarty. It doesn't raise the rev limiter but it makes it keep pulling past 3100 rpm all the way up to 3500 rpm. With stock programming, power drops dramatically past 3100. It also is able to change tire sizes, erase codes and enables high idle on all programs.

Smarty is very flexible too. There are programs out there that will suit just about anybody. I have a very mild program installed and get very little power from it. But my main thing, at this point, was a slight power increase and gained mileage. Smarty got me both of those. Plus I'm able to blow a decent cloud when I want. The program I have doesn't block out the sun or anything though. It just provides a good puff like you see from a dumptruck or big rig. Just perfect in my mind!

Can you put what fuel system you have in your sig?

You will get better performance on the odd # settings. Even #'s are fuel only and can raise egt's too high.Odd #'s are fuel and timing and will give more power and better fuel mileage. The even#'s are for stacking with another module that does timing.Couldn't tell you about boost with stock turbo.I would think 35-40lbs wouldn't be to hard to achieve.Anything more than this is out of your stockers efficiency range.
