Ever sit outside a truck stop - and just watch and listen?
I've been doing it for the past couple weeks.
I'll take some pics...
Usually get an iced tea and just sit on my toolbox in the back of my truck and watch the big dogs get off I-80 and go to their filling station of choice, grab some grub and get their truck washed.
Pretty cool to see all the different loads and hear the different engines...
The 8" or 10" stacks are the best...

i try to avoid truck stops at all costs, but there are times where it is unavoidable. i HATE sleeping at them. packs of loud engines, smoke, urine, people beating on your door at all hours of the night, etc.... if you have to get some sleep, look for a spot that is as far away from a reefer unit as possible.

truck stops are nice if you dont have to stay all that long. i made a trip to florida once and rather than waste money on a hotel i decided id catch a few zzzz's at a truck stop. all the lights and noise kept me awake so i didnt get much sleep. that and its humid and hot as anything outside mobile, al in the summer time inside a vehicle.
but they are interesting
