Evaporative canister ?

Does a diesel have an evaporative canister? The Service Rep at the dealer said that if you neck fill the fuel tank, you will soak the evaporative canister. Anyone have any comments?

Thanks

You and your tech might be a while in finding said canister. Fact is, it might be until sometime after you open your hood and find a gasser there.

Gasoline by it's very nature is an evaporative substance. That's why it's so easily atomized and why the fumes are so dangerous. Diesel is just the opposite. Yes, it evaporates... But it takes its own good time. Diesel takes work to burn.

As for the canister... Don't spend too much time as there's no such animal on your CTD.

That's exactly what I thought. I'm going to have some fun with him...
I should tell him to check the evaporative canister and MAKE SURE I didn't already ruin it by neck filling.

I'll let him figure it out.
Thanks a bunch.

Thumbs up

You should take a gallon can, fill it with crapped out injectors and spark plugs, and tie it to a hose under the hood. Probably tie it to the high tech anti-vibration device on the boost hose.
