Engine Shut Down Egt
Just got a gauge kit (pyro/ tranny/ boost) & the turbo temp monitor. All Isspro from DieselManor. The turbo temp monitor (TTM) installs post turbo & shuts the engine down at 300*. I am going to go pre turbo for the pyro. Reading the instructions for shut down recommendations that came with gauge kit, it says to shut down @350* pre turbo or 300* post turbo. Here's what got me thinking. It says exception for pre turbo applications, that after a hard pull wait 3-5 minutes after you reach 350* because of residual heat. So with the TTM being post turbo & shutting down & 300* would residual heat be a problem? I don't think it is but I don't know. If it is, the TTM wouldn't be worth installing. The fact that it shuts down based on temperature versus time is why I bought it in the first place. She'll be panting hard when I stop. So do you think the TTM is OK ?

I was going to install the same TTM but the mfg doesn't give you wire color coding.
When your done. could you let us know the colors of the wiring you tapped into.
I have an 04.5 it's probably the same.
I just don't want to trigger the air bags by poking around. That would ruin my day.
Thanks
Ralph

You could install the TTM post turbo and then use your pyro gauge to see how the TTM performs. i.e. do a hard pull and then see how long it takes the TTM to shut down the engine after the PYRO gauge sees 350. Hopefully that residual heat will be transferring back into the exhaust enough to keep the TTM post-turbo probe above 300 for the recommended cooldown time.

I have an Isspro TTM on my truck, the directions say to put it post turbo. that is how I have mine and my gauge pre-turbo. I can see the egt's on the gauge go below 300 deg. long before the TTM shuts down. Just going by the pre turbo gauge if I shut it down @ 300 deg. the exhaust temp will go up 400+ deg. after a few minutes being shut down. It doesn't go up if I let the TTM work
