Engine RPM's
I know the spec for engine in D w/ AC on w/ automatic is 750 rpm's; my question is do any of you prefer to go higher, and if so, what and why? Are your rpm's adjusted for high HP mods?

I was always happy with mine right in the 750-800 range. WHen I had my pump turned way up, I actually had a difficult time getting it down to anything lower than 750RPM.

Yeah, I was curious because 700-750 is proper, but once I got used to 850, I can't go back. I just turned the power screw in 1 more turn and that raised my idle to 975, and that was starting to get uncomfortable on the right knee trying to keep the truck from creeping at a stop!

I'm turning 2200 rpm at 65 in top gear. But I think my speedo is reading a couple mph high. I went by one of those rodaside radar warning signs the other day and it said I was doing 43, but reading 45 on the clock. Anyone know how accurate those things are?

I found that higher idles caused my trans to heat up way too much in stop and go traffic. Lowering the idle stopped the problem.
