Help!! i finally got my truck running after breaking a head studd and popping, the hg. i installed some stock injectors(cause i thought my 435's went bad....long story[duhhh]) so im keeping the stock ones in for now. i still got the lasercut dvs though. anyways my truck runs fine at idle and revs up good without missing a beat(in park), put it in gear and go for a drive, and whenever the motor feels too much of a load it sounds like its missing or not firing correctly, could my timing be to high for stock injectors??? Its set at 18*, it kinda sounds like it did when i put the laser dvs and 435s in with out advancing the timing......?

i think i might do that, i just had them tested a few days ago and they said they needed cleaned and they had different pop pressures and they were low[dummy] but im gonna throw them in and see wut happens. any more ideas would be helpful thanks.

hooookay just got my 435s put back in, went for a test run and wow its 99% better. Which means there is that 1% thats still not right. It runs fine in park, idle, rev it up, don't matter its sound fine. go down the road and at 1800rpms it sounds like it has a slight miss/rough spot, very slight though. If i get on it hard or roll into it fast it has that same slight and not very noticable miss to it, but it pulls hard anyways. im about to check my timing to see if something changed, but any ideas or thoughts would be nice[coffee]. thanks

Here is what ive done so far since installing the new hg. its a quick list of the issues and want ive done to solve them, up until this point were it still has that slight miss.

-put motor completely together, with the 435s(same way it was when gasket blew)
-bled injection lines and started motor
-motor ran rough, only fired on 5 cylinders
-the 5th cylinder back always had the miss in it
-thought it was the injectors so i put some stock ones in(didn't know if they were good or not[duhhh])
-still had same problem, 5th cyl wouldnt fire
-pulled its valve cover and found bent intake pushrod:o
-replaced bent rod and started truck again, yaaa it ran[laugh]
-test run, ran rough and missed alot under any load
-reinstalled the 435s injectors and went for another test run
-ran 99% better, but still doesn't sound 100%:(
-and now im checking the timing[laugh]

okay so i checked the timing and it was at 19.5*, no big deal:( i've run it at 26* before with no problems, anyways i took it for another test run and.....it seems to run a tiny bit better, but still seems to have a slight lope/of beat type of sound almost like a tiny popping noise under accelaration. who knows maybe im just paranoid[redface] but please if someone has some ideas please let me know. thanks

if you bent the push rod you might have bent the valve in that hole also, did you over rev the motor at anytime ?

i bent the intake pushrod so the piston is on the down on that stroke so i don't think its that valve, but i wont completely rule it out. Over rev the motor? like running it to 4000rpms or a hair over type over rev??? cause ive run it to 4100rpms before but it never hurt it.

Well for my fueling mods and rpm range 19.5* isn't high at all, in fact a year ago when i did the timing i messed up and ran it at 26* for 5 months, all it did was hurt my fuel mileage[dummy]

Well the hg popped because the head studd on the edge of the head broke so it wasnt clamping down har denough to handle 20lbs of boost and the gasket blew out.

Still no ideas huh??:( i talked to some shops about it and these were their awnsers....

-sticky valve
-one or more valves have a small bur in them keeping them from comlpete closer
-bent valve
-valves out of adjustment


so other than that what else could it be, how can i test those above issues?? (beside checking the valve lash)

gov springs can do funny things make you a compression tester some how make sure all the valves are closed and check all the holes you'll see if a bent valves it or not take a air hose pull the injectors make a rubber gasket make sure that both valves are closed and plug the air into the injector hole and see if it holds the air or not you might wont a pressure gage hook up on it you might here some going past the rings just a little but if you bent a valve you will here it good luck let us know what you find

Okay so i readjusted the valves again, which happened to be a bit to tight, but i did it wrong i adjusted them with the motor warm[duhhh][dummy] so i will redo them after it cools down[coffee]. So after the 3rd valve adjustment (doing it the right way) i'll posted back and tell ya'll if it made a difference.

HELP!!!! i've gone through adjusting my valves, swapping injectors, dvs, changed the timing and still cant get rid of my miss!!! please someone help me[redface] i cant figure this out. Im moving to oregon in less than a month, and im towing a trailer so i really need to figure this out now, iv'e been messing around with it for almost a month now and cant get it to sound right, it sounds like its running on 5 1/2 cylinders[yuk]. any ideas??? any???

I got 50 $ that says you have a bent valve if you did all the things you say and then do the things i said in my outher post you will see. good luck hope you find it
