If you have the computer in the overhead, you should have the hour meter. If you start at the Compass/Temp setting and work to the right, its either the last or next to last position prior to getting back to the Compass/Temp gauge.

To reset it or any other setting press both left and right buttons at the same time. The hour meter will count minutes and seconds until it gets to hours, then it should hours and minutes. It starts again at 00:00 when it passes 100 hrs. So if you use it for oil change interval like I do, I reset it each time I change the oil.

I change oil between 150 and 175 hours.

I don't know this to be a fact, but normally computers track things in memory. If one knew how to access that memory, one might be able to find out how many engine hours there are on any engine equipped with the computer.

If you want a real hour meter, go to any marine dealer and ask for one. It hooks up to the ignition hot side and counts minutes and hours just like a clock as long as the engine is on.

The overhead hour meter when used for a trip meter only tells you how long the engine has been running and not the total time of th trip. You might compare the readout to the actual time spent driving so you can see how much wasted time you incured for food, drink, pit stops etc.

The overhead has an elapsed time hour meter which is recording ignition on time which should be the same as engine hour meter. This is also tied in to the CCD bus.

I have an engine hour meter bought from Tractor Supply, mounted under the dash. Just for curiosity as much as anything.

I'd like to be able to access the hour meter built into the Cummins ECM though.
