Engine fushing

Hello I have a question that i hope someone could answer. I was told by and old school diesel mechanic that you could use trans fluid to flush your engine. He stated that put in a few quarts with your old old and run it for 20-30 min. and it would clean out the engine. Any thought on this or has any one ever done this . I think it would work but just wanted to feed back. Thank you

the only place I have heard about adding your transmission fluid is your fuel tank, but that has since been proven to be bad for your fuel system/injectors

I havent heard anything about adding it to your oil

hope this helps

I have heard about that before. A guy I know had an old 350 in his truck and they did that to it. The motor was pretty bad off to start with and then after they did that afew days later It blew up. I would not want to try it on something unless you have a back up. IN his case he had a 383 ready to drop in.

I have also only heard about adding ATF to your fuel tank, but I have also heard that this only worked in the 1st and 2nd gen. engines.

I dont know if I would risk putting that in a 7-8k dollar motor. I do know that trans fluid will clean very well though, and if you think about it, it has to be safe on the metal because it lubricates much the same way in a transmission. Thoeretically it should work anyway lol.

think about it fellas, auto trans fluid has friction modifiers. Read that to mean that it aids in the clutches to hold and not slip. You want to put that on your main and rod bearings???

That was an old trick to loosen up a stuck lifter. Add on equart to the oil. Then pop goes the lifter.

Right, its been around for a long time.
Also kerosene is also a very good motor flush.
Most of the "Motor flush" products are 60-70% kerosene.
