engine cooling fan issue
So i think my fan clutch has gone bad and is keeping the fan engaged.
Recently noticed she takesquite a bit longer to build a fire, and its noticeably louder than my Dads 96 12 valve. I put my hands on it with the motor off and tried to spin it by hand and its pretty stiff compared to Dads.
I've been looking at an aftermarket electric fan set up with an aluminum shroud and all that, but it's pretty pricey. I was interested in it for the mpg gain. Dad said a good 16 or 18in electric fan from the parts store would work great since I don't tow. All highway driving. Just wire it to a switch in the cab and turn it on when pulling a good hill or in traffic. What do you guys think? Replace the clutch? Or put on a universal electric fan?

I would do both because it would also help A/C work better in go and stop traffic keeping the condenser cooled down. If you need extra cooling on hills turn the fan on. I put one on my truck and rarely hear the engine fan lock up anymore. A/C works much better also.
