Engine codes
All this talk of engine codes latley got me to looking at my rig. I went and used the ignition to get the codes and now I'm confused. :-[ Here are the codes 0500, No VSS signal, 1693, DTC detected in companion module or DTC detected in PCM/ECM and 0234, Turbo Boost exceeded.
Now I can probably see the 0234 but I have a boost fooler. The other codes I'm confused, what do they mean and what is wrong? Any help is appreciated!!

Billg, I did, that's where I found what the codes said, but what do they mean? What's wrong with my truck, what can I do to correct that? Thanks for the response, I thought there were more people out there that knew what all this meant?

0500 no speed sensor signal....does ur cruise control work and ABS
the DTC code seems like it is just telling u that there is a code that wasnt expected because everything seems to be working properly
also if u have no check engine light these could be history codes...

DTF5152, So there is nonthing to worrie about, right? Cruise works great, ABS, I guess it works. Haven't had to use it lately 
. I did replace my brake fluid a while back. As far as the other DTC codes, there is no worrie right? If you have any more ideas let me know. Thanks for the help!

Jack, I haven't. I thought once the codes were there, they would stay until you reset the computer. I was understanding that you can un-hook the batteries for 20 minutes and it would reset the computer. I will try that over the next few days. Thanks,

Some codes clear that way and some clear after several starts without the condition that caused the code. Others will have to be reset by a code reader. If you know someone with a supperchips programmer they can read and reset them for you. You can also go to some auto part stores (Advanced Auto, Auto Zone) They will sometimes read and reset the codes for free.

I have had the same codes that you listed. 0500 I got from spinning the tires too much (driven on ice or snow lately?), 1693 is a companion code that doesn't mean anything other than there is another code set, and 0234 is the overboost. My EZ wasn't hiding the boost, so I sent it back and they sent me a new one and I haven't had a problem since.

My van-akken box did not come with a boost fooler. I bought it seperate. It's a small box about the size of a small box of matches, and plugged it in the harness. The truck still has power above 20# of boost. I thought if the computer read over boost it wouldn't fuel anything above 20#? Now I'm really confused. All I do is turn the ignition on three times ( Don't bump the starter ) and look at the odometer display and it show you the codes.

I take it you have an older VA, I think the new ones come with a boost fooler built in. Any boost pressure over a certain psi (19 or 21) is intercepted and 'chopped' by the fooler so the truck's computer only sees normal boost numbers. You probably won't notice much of a difference unless you pay close attention to how the truck responds after you clear the code. My EZ wasn't fooling anything, so I sent it back, they sent me a new one and I cleared the code; the difference was amazing. Just make sure you clear the code before any warranty work is done, that's an automatic red flag at the dealer. I've heard the 0500 will clear itself, so spin away.
