Engine Block Heater Not Working

I went out this morning to start my truck, which was plugged in and I noticed that my wait light stayed on much longer than normal. So I checked under the hood and the valve cover was cold as ice. My question is this.... Does the power cord go straight to the heater? Or is there a fuse somewhere? If not the heater must have bit the dust. If so anything special that I need to know to change it? And where is the cheapest place to buy one? I have owned the truck since new so I know it is the original heater. Thanks

Cord goes direct to the heater no fuse. Most likely the cord is bad at the plug. Go to the hardware store and buy a HD universal replacement end. You can cut the end off and ohm between the two wires. If there is no resistance the reat of the cord and element should be ok.

I had this problem and it was the cord that chafed across below the radiator. A bit of solder, heat shrink and electrical tape fixed it up.
