emergency brake

(sry phox if this is in the wrong forum)

Anyways i bought my truck wrecked, and the rear end was still under the truck, but the u bolts on the drivers side was broke. so the emergency brake cable was broke. so it splits right by the fuel tank and i replaced the back half. ( the half that was broke ) i have taken all of the adjustment out of it so its as tight as it possibly could be. and the emergency brake wouldnt hold my truck from rolling on flat ground. the front half might have been stretched out?? im sure that new e-brake cable would cost both arms and a leg to get one. how do i fix this with out taking the whole stinkin rear end apart to get to the other adjustment? Thanks alot everybody

Might check local junk yards and see if they have any "kits" that you could get ahold of. I'm pretty sure any dodge truck e-brake setup (similar body style & bed length) would fit. Might be a pita, like you are describing, but it beats buying a new one from the dealer like you said.

Got an 04 that wouldn't hold after I tightened the crap out of it. The backing plate was broken at the cable mount. I got the MIG out and had it on the road in a couple of hours.

Being an 02 and possibly a dually, I assume you have disk brakes with drum brakes as your EBrake. Did you remove the inside plug and tighten the shoes via the star wheel? Maybe the shoes are out of adjustment.

Or maybe you need rear axle seals like I did. Oh, and new shoes because the originals are oil soaked.
