Diesel Fumes

What's up guy's! I need some help with my electric control box for my trailer brakes. I have the factory tow package. I just bought a ActivatorII from Draw-Tite. Has anyone installed one of these? It's adjustable and has a digital read-out. I have instructions but, I'm lost. They read "For Tow Vehicles Equipped With Factory Trailer Tow Packages: Wire per tow vehhicle manufactuer's instructions." HUH? It can't be this hard to install can it? Can some help, or where can I take it and have it installed?

With the factory tow package you should have a blue connector socket hanging under the dash, on the left ot the steering column. Some have found it taped to the steering column. Mine was just hanging under the dash. You need to contact the manufacturer to see about getting the necessary pigtail harness to connect the brake controller to the factory harness. This may be a PN: 18261.
I got one for my Tekonsha Prodigy from http://www.brakecontroller.com.
It plugged right into the brake controller and factory wiring harness, no splicing of any kind was necessary.

Well, Stamey is absolutely correct but I would like to suggest something also.

I checked at the local dealer for the pigtail, but the parts guy laughed, said he had it, and then said, "I'll have to charge you about $80.00." Then he sent me down the road to Tractor Supply where the had the correct pigtail for about $12.00.
Moral is, check several places where trailer parts are sold if you don't like the original cost.

It sure helps to have a good service/parts department. Not the first time they have saved me some $$.

I always have uhaul hook that stuff up, while I watch them. that way if any problems persist I just take it to them to fix.
