i noticed today when i open the driver side rear door-the odometer does not light up my mileage anymore. all other doors still work. this is not a big deal for me ( i am out of my 3yr/36.000 warranty) i imagine only three wires are involved-a power wire, a ground wire and a wire that goes to the odometer. like i said i can live with it, so i really don't want to rip the door panel apart and start tracing wires,etc. is this ok to leave?? or will it eventually cause a more major short/electrical problem-because i have a bad wire!!

 

Does your dome light come on when you open the driver side rear door?

 

Sounds like the switch/latch in the driver's side rear door isn't adjusted correctly or isn't making contact. When you hit the "lock" button does that door lock/unlock? The door lock motor and ajar switch are integrated. If the door doesn't lock/unlock then take the door panel off and see if a wire fell off.

 

I just have an old '02, but I'm a little confused at what a DOOR has to do with the ODOMETER?

 

Most vehicles the ODOMETER is blank turned OFF and when DOOR is open lights up and shows MILEAGE.

 

dome light does not work either. no door locks switch-the ruck is an st model. all other doors work.

 

Like Handymantim said, it is probably a disconnected or broke wire, or bad switch.
