Electric Fuel Cut off Valve for Aux fuel tank

Ok I need some help, I have looked everywhere and can't find what I'm looking for so I'm hoping you can tell me what your useing. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 with a 60 Gal RDS fuel tank/ tool box. The gravity feed system I picked up from Northern works great until it starts to over flow. So what I'm looking for is a electronic fuel shut off valve or something simple which gives me the ability to open the valve while rolling down the Hwy pulling the 5th Wheel.

Let me know what you use, where you bought it and roughly how much did it cost.

That kind of the set up I have now, I'm looking for something more along the lines of a electric open and close valve that I can operate from the Cab. I really don't want to have to pull over, get out of the truck and flip the valve in the bed to open the valve to the AUX tank while pulling the 5th wheel. Somebody somewhere has to be using a electric valve? that's what I'm looking for.

Bought mine on ebay long enough ago that I cant find the transaction. Seems like I used the words Diesel and solonoid and started reading descriptions . found one that stated gravity flow. About 30bucks. Works great.

i use a cheap inline electric fuel pump, it acts like a valve....when it's turned off fuel won't flow thru it, and when it's on the fuel flows faster than gravity.
I've been using it for years
it cost less than $20 for every thing

You might fix it real cheap and quick if you check your fuel cap. They are supposed to be one way only. I can leave mine on permanently and never overflow. The only people I have ever heard of having a problem with overflow was on older trucks before the one way was used. Did you replace your cap with a locking cap? Could be the wrong one. I love the manual valve. And, the fuel doesn't flow that fast anyway. It takes a long time to fill your main tank from the aux if your main was near empty when you open the valve. My personal valve won't let me run that long before I have to stop anyway.

I have had the electric valves - - one left me stranded in the desert at 110 degrees in my motorhome.

Just go to your parts store and get a electric valve, use the same one that was used with dual tanks, works perfect. Hook it up so when there is no power its shut off, and then when you want it to open you power it up, and if you power it from the ignition side of the switch, it will shut off when you shut the truck off incase you forget it is on when you park it.

I called a few of the local parts stores to see what they had and the cheapest price I was quoted was 239.00, and I know people have got their pumps valves a heck of a lot cheaper then that. The full pump is an option but what's to stop the pump from over heating once the tank is empty? I know when the AUX tank gets down to 5-10 gallons the fuel is rolling around, it's not cooling the pump. Then on top of that it would be another 70-100 miles before my truck fuel gauge starts to drop so how do you know when to fill that full pump off so it does not over heat?

I am from canada and i paid 40.00 for my electric valve, call around and ask for a dual tank valve, as i am sure there has to be someone that carries the same as the auto parts places in canada do

Thanks guys after checking out E-bay for "valve solenoid” I found this little valve for 30.00

It's 3/8 12 Volt electric DC valve and when it's energized the valve is open, so if I wire this to ignition hot and fail to turn it off the valve will automatically close!

I let you know how it works out!
