EGT's too high?

I have an 07 5.9. It has a superchip firefly on the stock setting. I had a smarty jr on it on the economy setting, it was starting to put out tons of black smoke and the egt's seemed to be running hotter than normal, so I put it back to stock yesterday. Today, driving to the lake, my egt's went crazy. Just normal accelleration from 40-65 mph, it jumped to over 1400, normal driving, not towing. I picked up my jet skis on the way, and just normal accelleration from 0-30 mph, it went to 1200. This seems way high to me, it is a hot 98 degree day, but it seems way eccessive. What temps do you normally see in everyday driving? I am kinda worried, because I have to pull my fiver home Monday. Thanks for any replies or suggestions.

i was seeing temps like that and it would go to 1500 climbing with a load and it was stock . nobody could tell me if it was normal now i went thru 1 turbo which damaged the motor and killed it a week later and now we are going to court good luck on keeping them temps down

dont know if it was a bad turbo cuz it went out at about 65k i never could figure out the problem but the temps went down when i tried a programmer on it they went way down almost 300 degree's. I had it pre turbo and i asssumed the readings were right. It never smoked a lot tho the only time it did was when the motor went it shook real bad and then blew black smoke. mite be your injectors if your smoking a lot

Normal i see anywhere between 6-900*. I Got on it yesterday on the interstate with the tst and smarty tnt on and it quickly hit 1500 so i let off and it stayed at 1500 for atleast a second and a half which tells me i was atleast 1600 or 1700+ They can handle the heat as long as you dont stay in it for too long.

Seems a little high. I was trying to see what I could get my egt's up to while drivin home from work yest. The highest I could get it was 1300 and that was at about 8,000 feet above sea level when I was driving back from work. I would think that seeing 1400 with everyday normal drivin would be up there.

Okay - FYI I took it to the Dodge dealer and he hooked up the high dollar mopar code reader to it, and it showed low boost. We drove it with the code reader on it monitoring everything, it showed some wierd stuff going on , the egt's on the firefly showed super high, but normal on the mopar machine. We unhooked the firefly, and everything went to normal. So I guess it was the superchip firefly that was the problem, it shorted out, or something. I guess I will just get a good pyrometer and get rid of the firefly, and use the smarty jr again........Thx for the replies.
