Egt temp
I have a K&N intake system, and a bullydog triple w/outlook. What is normal and what is pushing it when it comes to temp. post turbo. I havent put a manifold EGT probe in yet. i have knoticed my temps up around 1350 stock at WOT. Is this really high, should i be worried? i have heard these engines run hot, but what is getting too hot? i have heard people runing 1400-1700 now and im confused to what is a safe normal temp and what is pushing for a 1/4 mile blast. Where should i set my defuel? whisch leads me to another question.
i understand somewhat on how the defuel works but im used to gas cars, if you defuel doesnt the engine go really lean, which doesnt this lead to blowing a motor?? How is this safe? Or is this something very different from gas cars?

i haven't even seen 1300 at the manifold on my truck yet im not to sure about the defueling tho and i would say your egt's are pretty high i'd wait to hear from a few others tho cuz im not as informed as some of the other guys here.

Ive heard 1350-1400 is max for sustained periods. 1400-1500 for no more than a split second. Most run a manifold pyro. 1350 post-turbo sounds like I definately wouldn't want to run any hotter. sounds a little warm to me. I would consider ditching the stock muffler and upgrading the exhaust somehow to improve flow. Muffler swap, muffler delete, complete system, it's your choice. Search the threads and you'll have days of reading.

Sounds a little high to me, you do need to take some exhaust system steps to help with flow. Somewhere I read that the max temp Cummins has warnings about is 1450* pre-turbo. Having a temp in your range post-turbo suggests pre-turbo is at least 100* hotter, no good if that's the case, on the edge of being toast.
I have the ME, it did lower my EGT temps a good 100*'s, but I also have some changes to intake air with the Ice Box Intake and also changes to the Intake Horn, I am running a GDP Intake Horn. All these combined lowered my EGT's over 200*'s. I have only gotten to 1100*'s pulling an 18K load up a 6% grade, pre-turbo manifold pyro readings. Before my changes I easily got close to the top of the gauge limits.

A friend who has both pre and post turbo EGT probes says that there can be as much as 200-300* differences between the 2. At that rate you could be running 1650* pre-turbo. If prolonged, that could be a problem.
I have a post turbo probe and try to keep it at 950 or lower although I've seen upto 1100 for brief periods.
