I don't know if different gages have different thread counts on there probes, but my autometer is tap size 1/8 X 27 NPT and 5/16 drill bit for the hole. I put my probe 2" from the turbo/manifold flange and 5/8 off center towards the rear. You could just get a plug from a plumbing shop for the boss in the exhaust.

Cheers

No do not drill exactly in the center, there is a web down the center. Drill about 5/8" off center, either to the front or rear. Don't ask how I know.

Depending on the brand of gage you have I have seen both 1/4 NPT and 1/8 NPT threaded probes. My Autometer had 1/8 NPT and my Banks gage has 1/4 NPT probes.
